We are beyond excited to welcome you to beautiful Singapore as we host the 25th World Congress of Dermatology. In this newsletter we would like to share some of the iconic tourist spots that you can visit during your stay here!
Tourist spots
The Lion City may be one of the smallest cities in the world but it is definitely an exciting place to be. It is home to beautiful gardens, impressive architecture and iconic attractions.
Head down to the Mandai Wildlife Reserve to visit an incredible breadth of animal species and habitats in virtually one place. The open concept Singapore Zoo houses over 300 species of animals, taking you from Wild Africa and Primate Kingdom to Frozen Tundra. Have breakfast with the orang-utans and take a tram ride complete with audio commentary as it takes you to the different animal zones. Come sundown, you can check out the Night Safari where one can see over 2,500 nocturnal animals from 130 species in their natural habitats, all without barriers via the use of special lighting techniques.
Sentosa is an island resort off Singapore’s southern coast, connected to the city by road, cable car, pedestrian boardwalk and monorail. Sentosa promises sand, sun and a day of fulfilling experiences. Consider visiting Universal Studios, with 7 themed zones, the large park is surrounded by a lagoon. Ride the world’s tallest duelling roller coasters, visit Jurassic park and Waterworld, and try the Rapids Adventure. For kids, drop by Far Far Away and witness how Shrek and his friends live. Tiger Sky Tower is the highest observation tower in Singapore, making it an awesome attraction. Visitors may reach the top by riding into the disc-shaped cabin with glass windows. It would slowly rotate and ascend while being able to have a glimpse of Singapore. At the top, a perfect panoramic view of Sentosa and Singapore’s skyline awaits you. The Merlion is a famous tourist icon in Singapore. The latest attraction is the Laser Light Show through the Merlion, entertaining audience with creativity coupled with lights and music. Underwater world and the dolphin lagoon houses various kinds of marine and freshwater animals. You can view the famous pink dolphins through a large glass designed tunnel. Fort Silosa has a lot to offer in terms of military attraction, with varied collections connected to the World War 2 such as photos, films and documents. Asia’s most extreme zipline found at MegaZip Adventure Park, with other activities such as Climbmax (aerial rope), ParaJump (free fall) and NorthFace (rock climbing).
Jewel Changi Airport has it all, with gardens, attractions, activity areas, retail and dining. There is a stunning glass and steel dome development by Safdie Architects, with a cascading waterfall in the middle of the Shiseido Forest Valley. You can escape into a lush green sanctuary in the Shiseido Forest Valley and have a hike at an indoor forest. Immerse yourself at the Canopy Park, bouncing on nets and going down giant slides. The Petal Garden showcases creative displays of seasonal flowers and features interesting installations. Get lost in the largest hedge maze in Singapore and be rewarded with the best views at the core where the watchtower is.
Gardens by the Bay is a must visit icon in the Marina Bay area. Marvel at the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest, as well as spectacular Supertrees. The Flower Dome is a cavernous, cooled conservatory, which holds the Guinness World Record for the largest glass greenhouse! Orchid extravaganza will be on display in July with a myriad of diverse and colourful Orchids native to this part of the world. Within, the Cloud Forest, take a walk on a unique aerial walkway amongst exotic plant species and one of the world’s tallest indoor waterfalls. Finish off your day with a breathtaking light and sound show as the Supertrees come alive against the spectacular Marina Bay skyline.
